Dogue de Bordeaux.
Welcome to
the Home of some of Michigan's finest
Dogues De Bordeaux. We are located in beautiful nothern Michigan. Our dogues are family raised house dogs. We never chain or kennel our
dogues outside. We never strike or punish our dogues, but instead we have found
that only a scolding is all that is necessary to discipline them. They are
extremely intelligent and only want to please. Our dogues are also raised with
children and lots of company. We consider ourselves privileged to own such
magnificent dogues.
We hope you enjoy this tour of our site.

puppies in the world.
Our dogues are FCI, UKC, FIC and AKC-FSS registered.

About the Dogue De Bordeaux
The
Dogue de Bordeaux
This French Molosser, with its giant
sized head, is probably the closest relative of the Molossers of ancient
Europe.
Some consider this breed to be a direct descendant of the Alans/Alaunts of
the middle ages, and the official history of the breed also refers to the
Alan/Alaunt as the ancestor of the breed. Others believe that the British
Mastiff or the Bulldog have been used in the creation of the Dogue.
My own opinion is that the Dogue show us the ancient Molosser type of
central Europe of the middle ages, and before, and while his close related
breeds of the old Europe have changed or gone extinct, the Dogue have kept
its type all the way up to today.
The word "dogue"
first appeared at the end of the 14th century. In the middle of the 19th
century these ancient dogues were hardly renowned outside the region of
Aquitaine. They were used for hunting large animals such as boar, for
fighting (often codified), for the guarding of houses and cattle and in
the service of butchers. In 1863 the first French dog show took place in
Paris in the Jardin d'Acclimatation.
The dogues de Bordeaux were entered under their present name. There have
been different types: The Toulouse type, the Paris type and the Bordeaux
type, which is the origin of today's dogue. The breed, which had suffered
greatly during the two world wars, to the point of being threatened with
extinction after the second world war, got off to a fresh start in the
1960's.
I believe that with selective breeding the
Dogue de Bordeaux has become a most cherished family pet. The popularity of the
Dogue is soaring, which is bringing with it a high dollar amount. It is very important
to purchase your puppy from a reputable breeder, beware of puppy brokers.
Only buy from owners of litters and check with the DDBS and USBC for any
complaints. To many people have been profiting from the sale of substandard and
unhealthy puppies, all for the almighty dollar.
